What is the best way to defrost steak? Let's say I plan on grilling Filet Mignon at 5:00 pm and my steak is in the freezer. It's now 9:00 am - what's the best way to defrost the steak?

Thanks,
Diane

Hi Diane,

Put your steak in the refrigerator to employ the best slow-defrost method for the day. It may still be slightly frozen by dinnertime, and then you can add a little microwave defrosting time (go one minute at a time at 30% power until ready). But with the reduced need to microwave-defrost, you are avoiding the cooking risk that comes with a full microwave defrost.
Enjoy your steak!
